WHAT PROBLEM WILL MY PLATFORM SOLVE?

1. Missed opportunity to reframe and repurpose traumatic content. Neutralize barriers that suppress voices, experiences, and communities pushed to the borderlands.

2. There are no accessible and tangible platforms to address contemporary challenges. Diversify community response models and evolve alongside culture.

3. There is a lack of diversity in learning models, education, and information sourcing. Recognize the value of diverse perspectives and seek out alternative sources of information.

Layers of Identity/demographics

The collection of demographic data is crucial for the effectiveness of this platform. It helps to bridge communication gaps, identify internal community issues and external pressure, and discover where our communities intersect on specific topics. While we are all in this fight together, we each have unique experiences based on our identities. Recognizing and acknowledging the pain that may not be shared across different identities is important. It is even more critical to voluntarily connect with others, cross paths, and witness their pain.

SAMPLE PAGE VIEW [education]: ROSEMARY'S BABY [1968]

Rosemary's Baby is a powerful and thought-provoking film that delves deep into the complexities of motherhood and reproductive rights. It reveals the harsh reality of how women's bodies are often used as tools for bargaining and manipulation by those in positions of power. This film forces us to confront the consequences of our actions and the damage they can cause, leaving us to deal with the aftermath of our choices.

CLASSROOM DISCUSSION PROMPT

Rough Messy Handwritten Let's Talk About It

In 1968, the nation was in the midst of a cultural revolution. Women were breaking free from traditional roles and forging new paths, and society underwent a seismic shift. As we examine films, true stories, and personal anecdotes, we must ask ourselves: are there patterns that will inevitably repeat themselves?

By tracing the rise of childcare centers, the emergence of the "working mom" phenomenon, and the panic surrounding child abuse in the 80s and 90s, we can gain deeper insights into the cultural forces that shape our lives. With this knowledge, we can make informed decisions and confidently navigate the future.

I recommend checking out the Q1 report from [Pop] Cult Survivalist for a more comprehensive perspective.

SAMPLE PAGE VIEW [community development]: ROSEMARY'S BABY [1968]

This film remains the single most in-depth interrogation of motherhood and reproductive rights committed by celluloid. Rosemary's womb is a bargaining chip in her husband's pursuit of power; it's the battleground we wage war on before leaving them to clean up the mess we made.

Prevention and Mental Health practices look at the societal changes that will significantly change our culture's mental health practices and focus on those that can have a significant impact on the mental well-being of all individuals.

+ As far back as 1900 BC, cultures have attributed feelings of anxiety, depression, or general unrest to “spontaneous uterus movement,” a wandering womb.

+ Some cultural solutions for mental illness attributed to a wandering womb included marriage, sexual therapy, or perpetual abstinence.

+ Women are more likely to wait longer for a health diagnosis and to be told it’s “all in their heads,” illustrated in a 2018 BBC article on gender bias in healthcare.

Women face additional risk factors for mental illness, including that they are:

+ More likely to be the main caregiver for their children

+ Overrepresented in low-income, low-status jobs

+ More likely to experience CULTURALLY BIASED physical or sexual abuse patterns

CULTURE

BEHAVIOR

ACTIONS

BE THE VILLAGE:

- Help parents nurture and support their children.

- Protect children from natural and adult-inflicted traumas.

CHECK YOUR PRIVILEGE:

- Build connections in your community without feeling superior.

- Treat suicidal thoughts as a disease, not a character flaw, and care for those who have them.

- Help people recover and care for themselves without militant techniques or expectations.

ACTIVE RELATIONSHIPS:

- Support people under stress in their social roles, such as parents, caretakers, people pleasers, strong-willed individuals, perfectionists, mediators, givers, forgivers, etc.

Acknowledging people's pain without attempting to teach them a lesson can help alleviate loneliness experienced by people of different age groups.

Match your public performance to your real-life actions: Before giving money to research or a 'chance' passion project, look into your world FIRST. It's easy to do charity that comes with clout and acknowledgment, but it takes genuine compassion to act before you're asked and to do what is difficult in the dark. If you can write a check to a charity and never inquire about the impact/results of your donation, you can write a check to a friend in need.

Rants are not a strategy: The most recent pop-culture obsession was the case of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. Many spoke on traditionally ignored issues but suddenly grasped the nuances they previously denied to other high-profile victims. What have you done to support male domestic violence victims since the trial ended? It could be something as simple as supporting a friend or loved one in this situation by listening instead of commanding. One of the main reasons victims struggle to report or open up about domestic violence is the community around them. If the community demands you do what they want to maintain peace and tranquility, it's not a far cry from their abuser demanding they do certain things to retain love, affection, and support. It's an impossible choice between one form of control and another.
